Residential Addiction/Co-Occurring Treatment Program

Recognizing that many men and women battle chemical dependency concerns and mental health conditions at the same time, Kansas Drug Rehabilitation is proud to offer innovative residential programming for these individuals so that healthy, productive, and sober lives can be realized. This comprehensive and holistic treatment option integrates various interventions that are geared towards truly healing each patient’s mind, body, and spirit so that recovery can ultimately be achieved and maintained for a lifetime.

For those individuals who require initial stabilization services prior to engaging in our residential program, Kansas Drug Rehabilitation features Desert Flower Hospital on its campus. This hospital supplies medically-supervised detoxification services so that the toxins that have kept our patients ensconced in the vicious cycle of addiction can be cleansed from their bodies, thus initiating the recovery process and allowing these individuals to embark on the therapeutic process. Additionally, should an individual require stabilization services to initially alleviate the symptoms of a mental illness, Desert Flower Hospital can facilitate the care needed to assist our patients prior to engaging in our residential programming.

Once a man or woman begins Kansas Drug Rehabilitation’s Addiction and Co-Occurring Disorder Program, he or she will experience this program’s biopsychosocial-spiritual approach to treatment. This approach to care includes a wide array of interventions that are detailed within each patient’s individualized treatment plan and Kansas Drug Rehabilitation’s Daily Schedule of treatment. These plans and treatment schedules are outlined and carried out by our qualified and experienced staff members who deliver services with the utmost compassion and dedication to clinical excellence. The physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, social workers, counselors, and other relevant health professionals are experts in caring for those battling substance abuse concerns and mental health conditions and are focused on helping patients achieve optimal success while in our care.

The treatment modalities utilized within the Addiction and Co-Occurring Disorder Program are evidence-based and support each patient’s capacity to achieve wellness. These modalities include:

  • Medication management services
  • Individual therapy with a Masters level clinician and/or licensed psychologist
  • Group therapy that covers topics such as anger management, healing anxiety, relapse prevention, resilience training, working through grief and loss, and psychoeducational lectures to name a few
  • Therapeutic recreational activities, of which include equine therapy, expressive arts, a ropes course, a rock wall, and psychodrama
  • Additional therapeutic services, such as personal training sessions, psychological testing, biofeedback, acupuncture, mindfulness meditation, and massage

Patients in this program also participate in 12-step meetings, peer group activities, and can learn about SMART recovery. Furthermore, if it is deemed necessary for a patient’s care, our psychiatrists may recommend the following should a patient require treatment to overcome a past trauma:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Somatic Experiencing (SE)

Finally, in order to fully care for patients in an all-encompassing manner, The Addiction and Co-Occurring Disorder Program facilitates family involvement via the Four Day Family Program and regular contact between patients, their loved ones, and our staff. In addition to helping the men and women we treat in recovering from an addiction and managing the symptoms of a mental illness or illnesses, we wish to instill the skills needed to improve communication and build healthy relationships with those in their primary support systems.

Residential Program Treatment Goals

Kansas Drug Rehabilitation’s Addictions/Co-occurring Disorders Program has three primary goals:

  • To help you manage your addiction (including the emotional pain that prompted the addiction).
  • To discover new tools for healthy communication and relapse prevention.
  • To start you on your path to recovery.

Your multidisciplinary team will include an attending physician, a primary therapist, a family therapist, a continuing care coordinator, psychologists, therapeutic activity & fitness specialists, specialty therapists, and licensed integrative therapy practitioners.

Among the many benefits of treatment at Kansas Drug Rehabilitation is the significant number of nurses and specialty physicians who are full-time staff members.

During treatment you will learn to overcome the fear of feeling emotions, so you can approach them as a source of information rather than something to escape. And you’ll take home a comprehensive set of new skills, insights, and resources to sustain the journey of recovery that begins here.

Comprehensive, Compassionate, & Personalized Care

Comprehensive care at Kansas Drug Rehabilitation includes a complete diagnostic assessment, from which the multidisciplinary team will develop and coordinate your individualized treatment plan. Our compassionate staff members understand the emotional pain felt by patients and families – and our extensive experience and training enable us to provide the highest quality of care for your emotional, physical, and spiritual healing.

Your treatment team will meet regularly to assess and review your progress, sharing insights from their areas of expertise and collaborating to update your treatment plan. This continual reassessment provides optimized treatment to simultaneously address the total scope of your addiction and any co-occurring disorders.

If you or a loved one is battling a chemical dependency concern and the debilitating symptoms of a mental health condition, look no further than Kansas Drug Rehabilitation’s Addiction and Co-Occurring Disorder Program. Let us help you or a loved one discover the healed and recovered life that is deserved.
